Her Inspired Moment

Here’s one woman’s discovery of the perfect statement piece she needed for her kitchen, one of my custom hand hammered copper in-relief architectural tiles. With its sensual edginess and beautiful rich colors, it added the perfect depth and character to her back splash while engaging visitors in spirited conversation.
I sat down this morning with my client, Liz to find out about her inspired moment and what it meant to us both. Liz was in the process of remodeling her kitchen when she contacted me. Here's what she has to say about her experience:
"I knew I wanted a unique, copper, one-of-a-kind, statement piece to unify my space. Looking at all three of these things, I thought, that's exactly Sarah!
Sarah visited my home and I shared my ideas with her, not really knowing how it would work. We looked at the art in my house that has deep meaning for me and we discussed the forms and colors I enjoy. She then brought me some basic sketches and after more discussion I asked her take it all and run with it. I didn’t quite know what to expect. When she presented me with the finished piece (wrapped like a gift) I was ecstatic, as she turned my initial ideas into something more magnificent than I ever could have dreamed up.
I knew I wanted my in-relief tile to be nature inspired, possibly leaves with a red, blue/ verdi gris and copper coloring and I knew I wanted it behind my new stove, installed within the new tile. Sarah made a cardboard template so we could decided on size, making sure it fit between the soon to be upper and lower tiles, so there were no corner cuts in the tile. She marked it on the wall, so the tile installer could do his job, leaving the space for the piece, then Sarah returned upon presentation and installed her work of art. It was grouted in, and voila, it pulled the whole room together, unifying the colors and textures of other elements in the room and creating a cohesive voice and an amazing conversation piece.
I loved working with Sarah as I love connecting with artists, their story, their passion, knowing who created the piece, where and how the piece was made, it makes the experience even more special. This piece was made specifically for me by Sarah, collaborating with me one-on-one. Sarah truly listened and gave me exactly what I wanted, plus. Now her talent and enthusiasm help make my house feel more like a home."
